Theme: Northern Winter travel Sea&Land + looking for Northern Light (Aurora Borealis )
Some years ago I was to a photo workshop where a photog presented photos from a winter travel with our coastal express daily going on it's 6 days journey between Bergen at the west coast and up to Kirkenes in the Arctic Norway.
Finally this year I decided to make a tour myself - just in the days where the polar night is ending and the daylight and sun again is present up north. My plan was as follows:
ITENERARY- JANUAR 2014: With car from Oslo to Trondheim app. 500km, then the Coastal steamer -"Hurtigruten" MS Midnatsol (with the car), 3 nights, to Honningsvåg/North Cape.
Return: 650km by car to Tromsø. From there to Trondheim also with the "Hurtigruten" - Coast Steamer: MS Nordkapp
Schedule app. 10-12 days. With car app. 1.650km. With ships app. 2.800km (1.512 nautical miles).
This was a most interesting tour - probably one of the most exciting journeys I have done.
In the album you will find both the photos and my impressions from this very interesting journey to a country of darkness and light and not least the colours of the winter days where the sun rises at 9 AM and sets at 2 PM.
