Incredible light effect this afternoon in the town Hillerød in Denmark - quite close to Copenhagen

Kite training in Gilleleje. Denmark

A perfect day for kite training at the North Coast of Sealand in Denmark.  The small holiday village Gilleleje offer  grass and sand at the beaches right in the city center.

Gilleleje lies in Gribskov Municipality, at Sealand's northernmost point, Gilbjerghoved. The town has preserved many of the idyllic cosy streets and thatched houses built when it was a fishing village. Gilleleje is a lively tourist, commercial and fishing town. Its heart is the fishing port, Sealand's largest.

Soon to become friends. Hillerod Camp, Denmark

The two boys have started their contact with the boy sitting in the vintage camper car at Hillerød Camping in Denmark.  Soon they will all be playing together. Great daily life interaction.

The camp is situated right in the center of the town Hillerød. Very nice place that I can absolute recommend for people looking for a camp or a cabin in this part of Denmark

A sunny day at the Queens Castle Fredensborg, Denmark

What elegance and what a place for the Queen of Denmark - and this is only one of many castles to the Queens disposal. Incredible this Kingdoms still living in countries like Denmark and Norway.
What a super class paid mainly by the peoples taxes....

But of course we Norwegians know very well our Danish friends after being ruled by them for some 400 years until our own handling of the land started in 1814. then in a form of coop with the Swedish before we first in 1905 was "free" from our Scandinavian friends
- but of course where to find our new king if not in Denmark where their Price Karl become our first king in modern times as King Haakon 7.

At the end of the Great Northern War King Frederick IV asked architect Johan Cornelius Krieger, royal gardener to the court at Rosenborg Castle, to build him a small pleasure palace on the site of a farmyard named Østrup. Krieger built the French-inspired baroque palace 1720–1726, and the King himself took an active part in the planning of the building and grounds, and followed construction closely. The man responsible for the actual construction was General Building Master Johan Conrad Ernst, who was also responsible for the construction of Frederiksberg Palace.

While the building was still under construction Denmark–Norway and Sweden negotiated a peace treaty, which was signed July 3, 1720 on the site of the unfinished palace The treaty determined the fate of Skåne, which since that time has been a part of Sweden, and ended Denmark’s eleven-year participation in the Great Northern War. To commemorate the signing of the peace accord the palace was named Fredens Borg (lit. "Peace's Castle").

A rainy day at Fredriksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark

Rain and thunder was very present under some days we just enjoyed in the old town Hillerød in Denmark. Above  details from the sculptures in front of the old Fredriksborg Castle.

It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. Frederiksborg Castle (Danish: Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark.

Situated on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style.

You enter the palace through a narrow gate - and there you are with your normal lens - unable to catch the whole facade in just one photo.
The solution then is of course to make a stitch of 2 photos and have the whole façade included at a rainful day as it was under our visit in July.

Night in the Åboulevarden - the pedestrian street in Aarhus, Denmark

Aarhus, an interesting town to visit with lots of well conserved old buildings etc. in the core of the city.
Here we are taking an evening walk in the popular Åboulevard - a pedestrian street along the river/canal.

It all ends in a tiny small sandbank where the 2 seas the Skagerrak and Kattegat meet.

It is a fascinating experience to stand on the tip of Jutland and the European mainland and watch the waves from the two seas beat together and break the Skaw Reef.

It all ends in a tiny small sandbank where the 2 seas the Skagerrak and Kattegat meet. It is a fascinating experience to stand on the tip of Jutland and the European mainland and watch the waves from the two seas beat together and break the Skaw Reef.

Sunset onboard MS Color Fantasy in Kattegat, Denmark

Returning home from the last weeks  with some 6.000km driving through Europe - the last leg is done with the great car ferry MS Color Fantasy from Kiel in Germany to Oslo (20hrs sailing).
In this photo pointing to the west we can see the low coast profile of Jylland in Denmark.

Storebelt bridge, Korsor, Denmark

Very difficult to have this 18km bridge in one photo. Even this stitch of 3 offer some "strange" lines here and there...

The photo is made from the aft deck of the big car ferry MS Color Fantasy after passing under the great bridge some minutes before.

The 18 km long fixed link across Storebælt comprises two bridges and a tunnel.
Construction work on Storebælt took place from 1988-1998. The motorway across Storebælt opened in 1998 and the railway opened in 1997.
