Winter with Moose and Fox tracks along the trout river in Valdres Norway

Tisleia river is still open in the cold winter. Water in constant movement is the reason for this.
Along the shores we find fresh tracks from a bypassing  Moose and Fox. Probably looking for a good place to drink some water.

This is close to our mountain place 3hrs NorthWest of Oslo

Leaving the harbor. Hvaler Archipelago. Norway

In the afternoon a small sjark, fishing boat, is leaving the harbor in Utgårdskilen after having delivered the days catch of shrimps and fish.

(There will be some days with reduced photo/posting activity the next days as I am in the mountains to enjoy the winter mood up there,)

Red summerhouse in the winter. Hvaler archipelago. Oslofjord. Norway

The crisp colors of the winter and the afternoon sun gives a nice contrast to the red summerhouse in the back and to the red boathouse in front. No people present this day in February - but come back in the summer to these very popular islands in the outer part of the Oslofjord - just some 15 minutes from the nearest town Fredrikstad.

Fresh fish in from the sea. Hvaler archipelago, Oslofjord, Norway

In the afternoon a shrimp sjark is returning to its moterharbour in Utgårdskilen, a tiny village, in this group of islands in the outer part of the Oslofjord.

I am there in the port waiting for the sunset this winterday in the beginning of February.

The small fishng harbour: Utgardskilen, Hvaler Archipelago, Oslofjord, Norway

It is a calm day in this little fishing harbour, utgårdskilen,  in the outer part of the Oslofjord on this fine day in February.
During my stay for a few hours in the afternoon only 3 small sjarks (fishing boats for 1 to 2 men) returned with their catch - mainly shrimps from the fishing banks not too far away.

A fishermans home at Hvaler Archipelage in Oslofjorden, Norway

In total there is something like 3500 inhabitants at the Hvaler Archipeago out here where the Oslofjord and sailing in to Oslo begins.

There are some few whole year fishermen scattered around the isles. The house showed here is on a very small community called Pappershavn. The house is placed in a sheltered place, covered from the weather in the North Sea and Skagerak.

The Archipelago is a most popular place for summer residents - while in January the photog is mostly alone visiting some selected places in the small villages and harbours around.

Coastal landscape in winter. Hvaler archipelago, Norway

In the afternoon the landscape gets a warm tone and setting from the fading sun.

From the outer Oslofjord a motif from the Hvaler archeipelago - not too far from the border to the Swedish Westcoast

The fishing sjark comes home - Oslofjorden, Norway

This afternoon I decided to spend in the small fishing harbour Utgårdskilen app. 1,5hrs. drive from my home.
Out here at the archipelago Hvaler there is in the winter only some few inhabitants - while in the summer there is people all over to enjoy the sea and the beautiful coastal landscape.

Still in the winter there is some  10-12 fishing sjarks operating out from the harbour in Utgårdskilen. small boats with one or two men aboard . 50% of their catch is made by trawling for shrimps, the rest of their catch is made up of various fishes from this outer part of the Oslofjord.

This afternoon I could spot 3 sjarks coming in after a day out at the fishing banks. They was returning around 4PM - just before sunset that is at 4:30PM this time of the year.

Winter sunset in the Oslofjord, Norway

I did a short afternoon visit at this small harbour, Utgårdskilen, 1,5hrs drive from my home to the coast of the Oslofjord.
The sun is setting already at 4:30PM in this time of the year here on the Hvaler Archipelago in the outer part of the Oslofjord.
In the winter the sun looks more like a dwarf star as it is so far away out in the sea.
